Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 June 2026

Athena is built on the principle that a system should cite its sources and refuse to guess. We hold ourselves to the same standard with your data: we collect as little as we can, we tell you exactly what we do with it, and we never sell it.

1. Who is responsible

This website (athena.work) and the early-access programme are operated by David Kandler and Erik ("we", "us", "Athena").

Location: St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Contact for any privacy question or request: hello@athena.work

Full postal address available on request. Athena is a pre-incorporation project; this notice will be updated when a legal entity is registered.

2. What we collect, and why

a) Early-access requests

When you submit the early-access form, we receive the email address you enter. To keep a record of the request, we also store limited metadata with it: an approximate country (derived from your IP address by our infrastructure provider), the referring page, the source, and a timestamp.

b) Server and security logs

Our hosting and CDN provider (Cloudflare) automatically processes connection data such as your IP address and request metadata to deliver the site, defend against attacks, and keep it available. This is standard for any website.

c) Local storage on your device

We use a single piece of essential local storage (athena_consent) to remember that you have seen our privacy notice, so we do not show it on every visit. It contains only a yes/no flag, is stored on your own device, and is not a tracking cookie. We set no advertising, analytics or cross-site tracking cookies.

d) Fonts

Web fonts are served from our own infrastructure. The site makes no request to Google Fonts or other third-party font services, so your IP address is not shared with them.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers ("processors") that help us operate the site, and only as far as needed:

ProviderRoleData
CloudflareHosting, CDN, securityConnection/log data, served pages
NotionDatabase where we record early-access requestsYour email + submission metadata
Slack (optional)Internal notification when you applyYour email + country

Some providers may process data outside Switzerland/the EU (e.g. in the United States). Where that happens, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

4. How long we keep it

We keep early-access requests for as long as needed to run the beta programme and to stay in contact with you, and then delete them when they are no longer needed or when you ask us to. Server logs are retained for a short period for security and operational purposes.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live (in particular under the GDPR and the Swiss FADP), you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable form. To exercise any of these, email hello@athena.work and we will respond promptly.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), or in the EU your local data protection authority.

6. Children

This site and the beta are intended for businesses and professionals. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

7. Changes

We may update this policy as the product and our company evolve. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
